Progress

Everything past the trophies: the slower classes, Mirror mode, the Parade Kart, the full roster and garage, every special item, and Battle Mode.

  • Unlock Mirror mode

Gold in the All-Cup Tour at 150cc, after which every track runs mirrored left to right.

  • Win every cup on Mirror mode

Five cups again, flipped. Each gold hands over something you can see in a menu: the Toadette Kart, the Tilt-a-Kart arena, Petey Piranha and King Boo, the Boo Pipes, and the Parade Kart.

    / 5 cups
  • Unlock the Parade Kart

Beat the All-Cup Tour on Mirror mode and it is yours.

  • Unlock every character

Twenty in all: sixteen from the start, Toad and Toadette from the 100cc Special Cup, Petey Piranha and King Boo from the Mirror Star Cup.

  • Unlock every kart

Twenty-one: one for every character plus the Parade Kart, thirteen of them behind Grand Prix golds.

    / 21 karts
  • Use all twelve special items

Twelve, not twenty. Most pairs share one, but Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo and the two Koopas each carry their own — and Petey Piranha and King Boo have none of their own at all.

  • Win a Balloon Battle match

Three balloons each, and the last kart still holding one takes it. Double Dash has no CPU battle, so this needs a second player.

  • Win a Shine Thief match

Hold the Shine Sprite when the clock runs out. Like every Double Dash battle, it needs a second player.

  • Win a Bob-omb Blast match

The third battle mode, fought entirely with Bob-ombs.

  • Win a match on every battle arena

Cookie Land, Block City, Nintendo GameCube and Pipe Plaza, plus the two the cups hand over: Luigi’s Mansion and Tilt-a-Kart. Nothing here is recorded, and none of it runs without a second player.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Cookie Land

A round arena of biscuit and chocolate chips, with nowhere to hide.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Block City

Blocks stacked into a small city, and the ramps that get you onto them.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Nintendo GameCube

Shaped like the console the game shipped on.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Pipe Plaza

Warp pipes at the corners, and a centre you cross at your peril.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Luigi’s Mansion

Handed over by the 150cc Mushroom Cup gold.

  • Win a Battle Mode match on Tilt-a-Kart

Handed over by the Mirror Flower Cup gold. The whole floor tilts under you.
